2013-14 Sports Report

Members Sir Andel Bethune Sir Kirk Moses Ms Melinda Primo-Solomon Abiigail Robertson Review 2013 Tutorial High School had a very productive and successful 2013 in the area of sports. For the year 2013 Tutorial took part in Track & Field, Football and Cricket competitions and did exceptionally well in all.Track & Field Tutorial High School took part in the annual Barbados Relay Fair where the female 4*400 relay team won a silver medal and placed third overall in the u17 category and the males placed fifth overall. This was a great achievement since the meet was an international  competition In October Tutorial won the Track & Field championship for the inter-schools Champion of Champions competition. Ten students and two teachers were selected based on outstanding performances to represent the East Georgetown District at the National School Championship where they performed credibly. Finally in November Tutorial took part in Marian Academy relay fair and came out on top again. The students who were selected to be a part of this competition are the students who will be taking part in the annual Barbados Relay Fair 2014. The u 13 girls won 1 gold and 1 silver medal, the, the u17 girls won 2 gold medals and one silver and the under 17 boys 1 bronze medal. 1 Football Tutorial High School took part in two major football competitions for 2013. The first being the Pepsi/ Scotia competition. Both the male and female teams competed in tournament. The males made it to the semi final stage of the competition, while the females made it all the way to the final and won and were crowned National female champions for 2013. The males then took part in the Digicel competition but only made it to the second round of that competition. In December two friendly games were organized for both males and females against Wisburg Secondary in Linden. The female team was victorious by  a 1-0 margin while the males loss by a 3-2 margin. With a little more discipline the male team can do much better.Cricket Tutorial High School continues to shine in all the sporting disciplines. The female cricket team took part in the All Sports U-15 competition comfortably won the competition. 2014 Football Our male and females football teams are currently taking part in the annual Pepsi/Scotia Bank competition. To date both team would have played one game each. The females would have drawn with East Ruimveldt Secondary 0-0 and the males would have defeated Campbellville Secondary 5-0. We would also be taking part in the Digicel Nationwide under 18 male competition. We will be trying to organize a Football competition with the students from Matthews Ridge (Region 1). Ruby Tutorial High school will also be taking part in the junior and senior inter-school ruby competition from mid April.Track & field On Sunday March 30th 14 students will be participating in a Relay competition hosted by the Police Sports Club.Field events for the annual inter-house sports will be held during the August term. Draught In the month of March we held a draught competition. The junior and senior champions were presented with trophies. They would have went on to represent the school in the Georgetown leg of the competition where the made it to the semi-final round of the competition. Easter - Kite Flying On Friday 28th March, we will be having our first annual kite flying competition in the National Park. Volleyball Volleyball will be introduced in the new term. Basketball Basketball will be re-introduced for students in the new term. Mashramani Competition Tutorial High School took part in the annual Mashramani  School competition and got two first in the dance segment of the competition.
