East Harlem Tutorial Program’s 3rd Annual Be a Boss event has gone virtual -- and we are opening our Zoom Room to the public! Join us on Saturday, January 9 at 10:00 a.m. for a networking event geared toward young women scholars as they take the professional world by storm. At Be a Boss, you will hear from industry trailblazers who discuss pro tips for taking charge of one’s career.

Revolt TV

Attorney Eboni K. Williams -- co-host of late night’s State of the Culture of Revolt TV and the first Black cast member on Real Housewives of New York City, will moderate this dynamic event, which opens with a one-hour conversation with Co-Chairs from the private, public and non-profit sectors:



Kate Jhaveri
Chief Marketing Officer, NBA

Kate Jhaveri is the Chief Marketing Officer of the NBA. Jhaveri previously served as the CMO of Twitch, Head of Consumer Marketing at Twitter, Head of Brand Marketing at Facebook, and spent seven years at Microsoft overseeing the worldwide Marketing Communications team for Windows, Internet Explorer and Earlier in her career, Kate was Manager of Corporate Strategy at Dell. Jhaveri serves as secretary of the national board for Planned Parenthood Action Fund. Kate received her MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from College of the Holy Cross.


Gabrielle Sulzberger
Board Trustee, Ford Foundation

Gabrielle Sulzberger co-founded Rustic Canyon/Fontis Partners, L.P. (RC/Fontis) in 2005 and serves as its general partner. Previously Gabrielle served as Chairman of the board of Whole Foods. Gabrielle is a Trustee of the Ford Foundation, and is chair of the governance committee. In addition, Gabrielle serves on the Boards of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sesame Street Workshop, TimesUp and Trinity Church Wall Street. Gabrielle received her B.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University, her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.


Wendy Garcia
Chief Diversity Officer, Office of NYC Comptroller

Wendy Garcia is Chief Diversity Officer at the Office of New York City Comptroller. Previously, Wendy served as the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer at the Office of New York City Comptroller, Director of Community Outreach and Partnerships at the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), Deputy Director of the Manhattan Borough President’s Northern Manhattan Office, and Immigrant Research Analyst for the Rockefeller Foundation through Baruch College. Garcia received her Master’s degree in Urban Policy and Management from New School University with a concentration in Economic Development, and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware.




Jennifer Perez-Taveras
EHTP Managing Director & Alum

Jenny Perez-Taveras is a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights. Jenny has been a member of the EHTP family since she was a participant of the high school program and is eager to be back at her "homeplace" as the Managing Director of OST. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Marymount Manhattan College and a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University. Over the last 12 years, Jenny has dedicated her time to developing programs that support young people in college access, college success, and career development. Jenny currently resides in the Bronx with her husband and dog Milo. She enjoys traveling and running!
